I REALLY WANT AN FR-S AGAIN! OH NO WHY?! I CLOSE MY EYES AND AND ASK MYSELF "WHAT CAR DO I WANT" AND THE FIRST TO POP INTO MY HEAD IS THE FR-S! THIS IS STUPID, RIGHT? I SHOULD WANT SOMETHING PRACTICAL! I'M GOING TO HAVE TO LIVE WITH IT FOR PROBABLY ANOTHER DECADE! TALK ME OUT OF IT (OR INTO IT)!

I'll talk you out of it.
BUY A WORLD RALLY BLUE BRZ.

Well if you're concerned about practicality, there's always the ST brothers... :P

As much of a Toyota nerd as I am, I'm very tempted by the BR-Z, due to how great I hear the Costco pricing is. I mean, a guy on FT-86 club got his for 24,700.

I drove a Fiesta ST a while back, and I adored it. But, you know, DORIFUTO!

this is quite easy.
do you like Horsepower? No? don't buy FRS, don't care as long as it turns? buy FRS
Have kids? no? buy FRS, yes you do have kids? don't buy FRS
Believe you'll have to get your head gaskets done on a boxer style Subaru engine eventually? no? buy FRS, yes? don't buy FRS.
Really want RWD manual that turns? why is this car better than a Miata? Or for the money/potential upgrades to balance out, why not an old mustang with more power?
Practicality? buy a Focus ST.

Yeah I can get into a new BRZ for $25k easy where I am. The nicer interior is probably gonna be something you like a decade from now too.
Doooo it!!

Get a lightly used WRX!

Just throwing this out there...I've seen used FR-S's go for about as much as this right here:

//cackles
But why FR-S? Why not get something older, more interesting? Maybe an AE85, which would be a lot cheaper than an AE86...
![]() 07/27/2014 at 04:31 |

That would be awesome until something broke. And something will break. And then I'll have to sell body parts.

Yeah. But. V10 supercar with 4 doors.

Supposedly the tail is pretty happy with the ST cars. Even the base Fiesta I drove as a rental car felt loosey goosey in the rear. But if you don't care about carrying big stuff in your car go with an FRZ and be happy with a lower horsepower car that should be fun to drive for a long time and that will have a huge aftermarket support system out for it.
![]() 07/27/2014 at 04:38 |

The Fiesta I drove was really easy to get the tail out, but it was in more of a "pivot around the center of the car" than the whole "dab of oppo slidin' for days" thing.

Do you need practicality? if not you should do it, if you're keeping it a long time you want a car you'll love and wont get bored straight away.
![]() 07/27/2014 at 04:40 |

Practicality is the one thing that's keeping me from it.

Get a Juke NISMO!
practicality? it's a CUV, it's got it!
power? yup! 197hp and 192ft-lbs, make this a quick car
usability? good visibility, can seat the typical 4.5 adults, decent trunk
looks? it's cooky, but I love it!
![]() 07/27/2014 at 04:42 |

The Juke Nismo RS is my left-field possibility.
![]() 07/27/2014 at 04:43 |

That's a pretty valid reason lol, although I'm not sure how much of that you could get away with on public roads, lol
And as Squid said, for FWD cars, apparently the STs are pretty loose in the back.

Dude! Nice! I'm picking up a Black 6-speed NISMO RS in 12 days!

Practicality is just a measure of your ingenuity.

Trailer?

All the reviews I've seen of it so far have been overwhelmingly positive. It's a neat car.

It is! plus, the fact that you see one per 15 FRS/BRZ's and per 9 FoST's makes it a unique choice

How about a Genesis Coupe?
A bit larger, a bit comfier, a bit less TRACK DAY BRO. Overall, more suitable for everyday needs. Plus 300hp v6.

I bet you can find a used coyote mustang for the price you are looking for. Trust me when I say stangs are multipurpose vheichal I drove one all through winter and they hold a lot and can drift easily in any weather

One of my acquantainces has a 2013 Genesis coupe and she hates it. It is falling apart and she bitches about it being slow. I drove a 92hp honda for years so I don't really hang out with that person anymore.

I see your Miata and raise you a Focus.

I'm a Subaru salesperson and you can get them now all day long for $25-$27
